A moment is enough to leave a mark
Friends
“The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes.”
— John 3:8
Perhaps we hardly know each other.
Perhaps we were only silhouettes passing by:
click a link, open a private message.
“Want to exchange blog links?”
And just like that,
we quietly left a trace on each other’s homepages.
We exchanged a moment of attention,
and then—
fell out of touch.
Soon that memory,
like footprints on a beach,
was washed thin by the latest tweets refreshing the feed.
Tossed into a corner of social media.
Completely forgotten.
Perhaps
he hesitated,
but still left a fragment of words
on this webpage.
And so it went:
a chance encounter, a moment’s stay,
then leaving.
After all,
a moment is enough.
